CPSC, Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. Announce Recall of Hedge Trimmers

CPSC published a recall notice for Kawasaki Hedge Trimmer from Kawasaki on November 9, 2005. CPSC identifies this hazard: On some units, the engine mount springs between the gear case and handle/frame could separate from their receptacle in the frame during heavy operation. Continued use could cause the engine and blades to swing free of the frame and hit the user, possibly causing lacerations. The official remedy states: Consumers can contact the nearest Kawasaki Power Product dealer to receive the necessary repairs, free of charge.

Incidents and injuries

Kawasaki Motors has received two reports of engine mount springs separating from the frame. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers can contact the nearest Kawasaki Power Product dealer to receive the necessary repairs, free of charge.
